Introduction
Chocpaw Expeditions provides hiking trips designed to meet the requirements of the Duke of Edinburgh Award Programme.
Due to the huge response to the canoeing and hiking programmes this summer we have posted the dates for the canoeing and hiking trips for June to September 2010. We already have many spots reserved and some dates are close to being filled.
Chocpaw Expeditions has selected a variety of hiking trails in Algonquin Provincial Park, Killarney Provincial Park and the Temagami area. Each trail offers spectacular scenery and wildlife viewing opportunities. We camp at night beside a lake or river. The pace is relaxed and enjoyable. We take the opportunity to swim in the lakes and rivers, to relax, and enjoy the trail. Hikes duration will meet the Duke of Edinburgh requirements. Most trails are loops.
Chocpaw Expeditions provides the camping equipment. Packs and sleeping pads are available for rent. Participants need to supply their own good footwear, clothing and a sleeping bag.

General Information for Duke of Edinburgh Hiking Trips – 2010
We offer hiking trips from early April through to the Thanksgiving weekends.

If you require Training and Practice before your Qualifying trip, we can provide that as well.
Pre-trip accommodation and meals can be arranged at the Northridge Inn or the Algonquin Motel.
We will pick up participants at the bus or train stop in South River for those travelling by either bus or train. Bus and train service is provided by Ontario Northland (www.ontarionorthland.ca).
If you have a group of 4 or more participants you can select your own dates and we will attempt to accommodate your group.
Dates and Schedule for 2010 Duke of Edinburgh Hiking Trips
Only one weekend available for hiking trips this summer:
August 28 we are doing both Silver & Gold Hiking Trips including Training and Practise – Each section has 4 spaces available.
We will consider additional dates for groups with a minimum of four (4) participants.
Rates for Duke of Edinburgh Hiking Trips – 2010
The rate is $65.00 per day plus applicable taxes.
Accommodation prior to, between the Practise and Training Qualifying Trip and the Hiking Trip, and after the trip are extra and depend on the accommodation used.
